Citronelle Man Fatally Shot in Hunting Accident
A man was killed on the morning of January 29, 2012 in a hunting accident just east of Citronelle, Alabama. Police received a phone call about the shooting shortly after 9:40 a.m. in a wooded area about a quarter mile outside of the city. Medical services arrived but were unable to revive Adam Chestang. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chestang was shot once with a 7 mm rifle. Police Chief Stringer said that a member of Chestang’s hunting party fired the shot, causing this “tragic accident”.
The incident occurred on a weekend of increased deer hunting activity because deer season is set to end the following Tuesday.
