Deangelo Overton, 18, has been sentenced to 70 years in prison after firing his gun at a south Toledo apartment complex, striking a mother and her four-year-old son. He was also involved in two home invasions on Halloween.

Rose Toth Gallardo, a home invasion victim, was present in the court room during his sentencing. She said, “The 45 minutes of trauma has taken away my sense of safety and security. I can’t explain the effects without explaining the trauma. I lost many things that night as they stuffed their pockets full of my possessions, and took my purse and my work bag, but most of all; they took my idea of home.”

Six months ago, Overton and William Barber broke into Gallardo’s home and held her at gunpoint.

The following day, Barber and Overton robbed another woman at gunpoint and shooting into a home that injured a mother and son.
