The fatal accident happened when 16-year-old Zachary Roy was driving a Chevy Tahoe south on the Interstate with five teenage passengers. The tire on the rear of the vehicle separated. Roy lost control of the Tahoe and hit a 2012 Mazda, driven by Ronald D’Haeseleer.
The crash caused both vehicles to go off the left side of Interstate. The Tahoe flipped over several times, the Mazda continue to travel off the left grass shoulder coming to rest in the woods.
15-year-old Brandon Fritz was thrown from the Tahoe and killed. Roy and the remaining four passengers, Lucious McKay, Dymond Thomas, Michael McCauley and Alexander Hartfield were seriously injured and transported to the Hospital.
D’Haeseleer and his passenger, Alexander D’Haeseleer only suffered minor injuries.
Police are still investigating the fatal accident and do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
