Toledo Driver Strikes Pedestrians in Crash, 1 Dead
A crash still remains under investigation by Toledo police after two pedestrians became victims in a car crash.
Stefanie Arnold, 27, and Chelsea Skoch, 23, from northeast Ohio were walking along Miami Street near the North I-75 exit ramp when they were clipped by a passing sports utility vehicle. Reports indicated that both pedestrians suffered severe traumatic injuries.
Authorities announced Arnold was dead at the scene, while Skoch was transported to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center for medical attention. She is currently in critical condition at this time.
The driver of the vehicle said he lost control of his vehicle while heading down Miami Street at 8:20 p.m. Sunday night. 41-year-old Michael Yates swerved his SUV off the right side of the road where he struck the two women on the sidewalk. The vehicle then struck a fire hydrant before stopping 150 feet away.
Yates was taken to St. Vincent where he was treated for his injuries and released.
