A fatal Ohio vehicle accident happened in Wood co. on August 18, 2010 at around 7:30 p.m. A 2000 Lincoln LS was traveling westbound on Greensburg Pike when it failed to yield at a stop sign and struck another vehicle. The driver of the Lincoln was taken from the scene to the hospital and found to have been drunk at the time of the accident. The other driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased, a Bowling Green resident, was a wonderful mother of three, grandmother of eleven and soon to be great-grandmother. She loved to garden and was a member of the National Gardening Club. She also loved to sew and made her daughter’s wedding dress.

Unfortunately, our Bowling Green Law office sees too many of these kinds of cases. If you have had a loved one involved in an accident like this one, it is important that you consult a lawyer. Insurance companies try to settle these claims with as little money as possible. A lawyer can help you get the compensation that you deserve.

Our Toledo area wrongful death lawyers were saddened to hear of an accident that killed a worker at the site of the Edgerton High School expansion project on Wednesday.

The worker lost his life when a recently constructed wall blew over in high winds. The identity of the worker has not yet been released.

A burst of high wind blew a 10-foot-tall wall over in the morning hours. It was part of an addition to the high school that will create kindergarten through eighth grade classrooms.

The National Weather Service said the gust of wind was a “microburst,” not a tornado.

OSHA is currently investigating the accident.

Following the heat-related deaths of two men entrusted to her care, Pamela Shay has been charged with two counts each of involuntary manslaughter and recklessly failing to provide for a functionally impaired person. If she is convicted she faces up to 23 years in jail.

Shay owned a group home, Angel Arms, which is now closed. The two men, Thomas Calhoun and John Jones, lived in that facility and both died in 2008. The room they shared was measured at 90.5 degrees when police arrived on the scene on June 9, 2008.

The Ohio Department of Health issued a report stating that the men were not checked on, medicated or fed until around 1 p.m.

The group home closed on October 29, 2008.

Unfortunately, cases of nursing and group home neglect are far too common. Two lawyers from small California firms worked together to prosecute a nursing home neglect case and won a $28 million settlement.

The attorneys, Edward Dudensing and Jay Renneisen, took on the case of a 79-year-old woman who lost her life after a fractured hip and bedsores went untreated in her nursing home.

Horizon West, which owns facilities in California and Utah, failed to diagnose and treat Frances Tanner for eight days after she fell and fractured her hip. She developed the bedsore during that eight-day span. The victim also suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia.

Dudensing and Renneisen claimed in their case that the nursing home was severely understaffed and had a faulty structure set up that prevented patients from being properly cared for.

Firm Philosophy

“Promise A Lot and Deliver More”

My father always told me “your word is your bond.” If you make a promise your reputation depends on keeping it.

As an attorney for the last 26 and a half years I have always tried to “under-promise and over-deliver” and keep my word.

I have changed that philosophy in the last year after learning from the teachings of Sid Friedman. Now I try to “promise a lot and deliver more.”

At our law firm we make it a policy to:

  • Return all phone calls
  • Listen to your problems and concerns
  • Maximize your recovery
  • Advise you of all your legal options
  • Provide you with 25 more methods of customer service to show you the Boyk Difference

Currently 70 percent of our business comes from repeat customers and referrals from existing clients. The goal of our Toledo, Ohio wrongful death lawyers is to be your family’s legal resource for life.
