January 26th, 2012 Author: Emmy

Five people were killed last year on February 9th, 2011. Families of three out of the five killed have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against UGI.

The lawsuit states that actions from the company contributed to the deadly explosion and resulting fires that dozens of homes were destroyed in. It states that the company is to blame because they failed to follow through on a directive from the National Transportation Safety Board to replace aging gas pipes in the area.

Also stated in the lawsuit is that UGI put a piece of wood under the pipeline in question. This is believed to have caused the pipe to weaken and crack.
