Settlement of $2.7 Million Awarded in Wrongful Death Lawsuit | Toledo, Ohio wrongful death lawyer

January 27th, 2011 Author: Emmy

Michael Doyle was a 26-year-old financial trader. While he was at a New Year’s Eve party in 2007 he and five other people were on the third floor deck at the back of the apartment building. When he got from sitting on the stairs he tripped and fell head first through the metal railings of the deck to the ground below. He was killed instantly.

Just two months before the accident the management of the building had been notified by the insurance carrier that the large railing gap, which was two feet by eight feet, should be closed with wire mesh. The city had also previously inspected the porch finding that some of the columns were rotted and there were inadequate bolts.

The family filed a wrongful death suit against the management of the building. The wrongful death settlement was recently reached in the amount of $2.7 million.
