Brian Kendall, the father of a 14-year-old girl who was electrocuted last July while removing tassels from corn, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Monsanto Corp for the death of his daughter.

Hannah Kendall and Jade Garza were killed when they came into contact with a field irrigator while working on a farm owned by Monsanto Corp. Hannah along with a group of other teenagers were all hired to remove tassels from corn.

Upon further investigation it was found that there was an understood electrical problem with connections to the irrigation system. There were about 72 people working in the filed that day when lightning struck the field. In addition to the two deaths, two other teenagers were seriously injured and six other workers sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The lawsuit alleges that Monsanto knew about the problems with the field’s irrigation system and failed to fix it.
