According to the Jere Beasley Report, a 3-year-old boy from Dearborn, Michigan, drowned this past August while he and his family were visiting the Kalahari water park in Sandusky, Ohio.

The parents of the toddler have filed a wrongful death suit with the U.S. District Court in Toledo, Ohio, against the water park. The lawsuit alleges that the child was not wearing a life vest, which Kalahari water park policy requires.

It is also alleged that the park did not have enough lifeguards monitoring and guarding the three-foot-deep kiddy pool that is also known as the “Lagoon,” in which the 3-year-old boy drowned. Upon the toddler’s entrance into the pool, his mother lost sight of him in the midst of almost 50 people.

Kalahari employees found the child face down in the pool, and he was pronounced dead at a local hospital a while later. The lawsuit states that Kalahari water park should have had additional lifeguards available and on duty given the amount of people that were in the “Lagoon” kiddy pool.

The lawsuit also states that Kalahari employees should have also noticed that the child was not wearing the required life-vest.
