Former Yankees Player In DUI Trial | Toledo, Ohio wrongful death attorney
On December 28, 2007 just after 3:00 am Jim Leyritz was driving his car after spending the night celebrating his 44th birthday. He entered the intersection at a red light and struck another vehicle. The woman driving was thrown from the vehicle and died. She was a 30 year old wife and mother of two.
Both parties had been drinking at the time of the accident, but a judge ruled that the woman’s conduct and state of mind were not relevant to the issue of whether she had the red or green light.
Leyritz, who played for the New York Yankees from 1990 to 1996 and parts of the 1999-2000 season is most known for his three-run home run in the 1996 World Series against the Atlanta Braves.
The wrongful death case settled with the ruling resulting in $250,000 in an initial lump sum and then $1,000 being paid each month starting April 15, 2011.
