A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against ALZA Corporation. The suit was filed by Preston Ward, the husband of Janine Ward who died as a result of taking the company’s faulty pain-relief patch.

According to the lawsuit, Janine Ward died on May 4th of 2010 after using one of ALZA’s prescription pain patches.

The toxicology reports later showed that Janine had a lethal level on fentanyl in her bloodstream at the time of her death. The patch was defective in that there was a manufacturing flaw that caused the drug to be released too quickly.
