Explosion Victim’s Wife Sues Company for Wrongful Death | Toledo, Ohio wrongful death attorneys
Juan Perez, a truck driver, was killed on February 27, 2006. A tanker truck was being loaded with motor oil at the Port of Brownsville in the RTW terminal when the truck exploded, throwing Mr. Perez off of the truck. He died from the injuries he sustained from the accident. Juan Perez had a wife and two children.
Before the explosion the tanker had a strong smell of gas, but was filled anyway with the oil-based compund. When trucks have gasoline fumes it runs a risk of igniting during the filling process due to static electricity. In order to avoid this occuring the truck should have been grounded to prevent sparks from lighting the fumes.
The widow of Mr. Perez is suing RTW and 14 other defendants.
