A jury in California awarded $2 million to the family of a woman killed in an accident at the intersection of two state highways. The jury found that the intersection was “a dangerous condition of public property.” The case arose out of an accident that claimed the life of Suzanna Coronado. Mrs. Coronado’s four children and her husband sued the State of California Department of Transportation alleging that the intersection where the accident occurred was in a dangerous condition on the day of the accident. The city, Caltrans, implemented a safety improvement project at the intersection a year after the accident.
