Elderly drivers nine times more likely to die in car accidents | Ohio fatal car accident lawyers

According to a recent study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the fatality rate for drivers 85 and over is nine times as high as the rate for drivers 25 through 69 years old.

Our Findlay, Ohio wrongful death lawyers urge older drivers to reevaluate their ability to drive as they get older, and ask that family members become involved in the decision on whether or not to stay behind the wheel.

The NHTSA also reports that of traffic fatalities involving older drivers, 82 percent happened in the daytime, 71 percent occurred on weekdays, and 75 percent involved a second vehicle. This means that the occurrences for elderly car accident injuries are not happening during a high-risk time.
