A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against several bars that served alcohol to a drunken man before a fatal car accident.

Anthony Bruno, 27, was driving home drunk on January 28, 2010. He had consumed alcohol before, during and after a Reading Royals game. On his way home he struck a vehicle containing three people. All three of those people, Chad Horne, 22, Robin Villegas, 52, and Terri Ann Burskirk, 45, were killed at the scene.

The three were on their way home from a family gathering after a funeral.

Bruno’s blood-alcohol level was .23 percent after the crash. The legal limit is .08.

On Sunday February 6, 2011 Luis Vasquez was driving his vehicle west on 74th street in Cleveland, OH. In the car with him was front seat passenger Juanita Gonzalez, and three children in the backseat: 12 year old Sheila Vasquez, 7 year old Shamshare Vasquez, and 10 year old Joseluis Vasquez.

Just before noon on that day they were struck by Takara Kelly slamming their vehicle into a pole. Luis and Juanita died as a result of this accident, and the three children as well as Takara were all injured.

Takara was charged with aggravated vehicular assault as well as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

In January of 2010 Matthew Webster went out drinking at Ten-Pin Lounge and The Woodstock Lounge. After consuming a significant amount of alcohol both companies let him leave in his car. While he was driving along State Highway 16 he veered left of center and hit another vehicle head on. William Churchmann, the driver of the other vehicle was killed instantly.

The family of Mr. Churchmann have named both bars in their lawsuit. The claim is that both bars were negligent and are liable according to Illinois law. The family is seeking damages in an unspecified amount and court costs.

On December 28, 2007 just after 3:00 am Jim Leyritz was driving his car after spending the night celebrating his 44th birthday. He entered the intersection at a red light and struck another vehicle. Leyritz, who played for the New York Yankees from 1990 to 1996 and parts of the 1999-2000 season is most known for his three-run home run in the 1996 World Series against the Atlanta Braves.

The wrongful death case settled with the ruling resulting in $250,000 in an initial lump sum and then $1,000 being paid each month starting April 15, 2011.

Rookie Pitcher Killed by Drunk Driver | Toledo, Ohio wrongful death lawyer

Nick Adenhart, 22 and a rookie pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels, was recently killed in an auto accident. It happened when Andrew Gallo, 23, was driving drunk and struck Adenhart’s car. The two others killed in the crash were 20 year old Courtney Stewart and 25 year old Henry Pearson. John Wilihite, 25, was another passenger in the vehicle and he was critically injured.

Gallo was already a convicted drunk driver. He was charged with three counts of second degree murder, felony drunk driving and felony hit and run for this accident. He was found guilty of all charges and could face more than 50 years in prison.
